Spring and Autumn Islands and Highlands Cruise

Special Blue Water Holidays Charter - a 5-day cruise aboard MV Lord of the Glens, sailing the picturesque lochs of the Caledonian Canal to the Isle of Mull and Oban

The Caledonian Canal runs between the mountains of the Great Glen, linking Loch Ness, Loch Oich, Loch Lochy and Loch Linnhe. Climbing and descending through spectacular lock systems to emerge on Scotland's wild west coast at Fort William, there are wonderful views of Ben Nevis before Lord of the Glens sails to the Isle of Mull and Oban.

Loch Lochy, Scotland

The scenic Great Glen follows a diagonal fault-line between north-east Inverness and Carpach to the south-west. The project to join its lochs was led by Thomas Telford and began in 1803, creating a navigable route of sixty beautiful miles. The locks at Fort Augustus comprise six of the twenty-nine, dropping to Loch Oich. Lord of the Glens weaves her way through islets, passing forests and romantic castles en route to Loch Lochy.

Loggan Locks, Caledonian Canal, Scotland

Admire mountain scenery as Lord of the Glens sails to Banavie. She navigates the dramatic 8-rise locks of Neptune's Staircase to emerge in Fort William, overlooked by Britain's highest mountain, the mighty Ben Nevis. Contrasting with the awesome splendour of the Great Glen, stroll the lush and exotic gardens of Torosay and the famous brightly-painted waterfront of Tobermory on the Isle of Mull. This scenic cruise of Scotland ends in the pretty harbour town of Oban on the Firth of Lorne.

MV Lord of the Glens ascends a tier of six locks at Fort Augustus, emerging into Loch Oich, where there are views of gentle tree-carpeted shores; and to Loch Lochy, edged with mountains. Arriving at Banavie, the ship descends through the eight locks of Neptune's Staircase for wonderful views of Ben Nevis at Fort William, from where a journey on the West Highland Line crosses the Glenfinnan Viaduct. Lord of the Glens leaves the Caledonian Canal and sails nine miles down the length of Loch Linnhe, with spectacular views of the Argyll Mountains. Arriving in Craignure on the isle of Mull, visit Duart Castle, the grand seat of Clan MacLean for 400 years, and Torosay Gardens.
