This wonderful seven-night cruise takes in the complete Caledonian Canal from Inverness in the east, to Banavie beneath Ben Nevis in the west. There is much to delight in a cruise through the Great Glen at this time of the year, not least the abundance of wildlife and the ruggedness of the Highland mountains. The Caledonian Canal meanders through this stunning scenery and links the great lochs of Scotland with one of the most impressive engineering feats in Britain. We then sail and explore some of Scotland's best known and loved islands.

Romantic ruins of Castle Urquhart

The 'MV Lord of the Glens' is a vessel with the elegant appeal of a luxury yacht with all-round teak-clad viewing and promenade decks and rich mahogany interiors. There are 27 luxury state-cabins accommodating 54 passengers, a bar, lounge and a restaurant which can accommodate up to 60 diners in one sitting.

Loch Lochy

We begin in Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, and pass through the first section of canal before entering Loch Dochfour and Loch Ness. Halfway across Loch Ness we’ll pause to take in the majestic scene of Urquhart Castle before arriving at the picturesque town of Fort Augustus. The vessel is then lifted by a series of six locks to another man-made section of the Canal which leads to beautiful Loch Oich, and onwards to Loch Lochy to the small town of Banavie at the foot of Ben Nevis.

From Banavie we descend to sea level by way of Neptune's Staircase, a dramatic series of eight locks, and sail to Craignure on the Isle of Mull. We cross to Iona by ferry for a day of exploring on this atmospheric island. We also visit the Isle of Eigg and experience spectacular scenery on the Isle of Skye with a guided walk in the Cuillin Hills before disembarking in Kyle of Lochalsh. This itinerary is also available in reverse order.
