Essential Norwegian Explorer
Combining 11 fascinating days
from Bergen on board the coastal voyage with time on the mainland,
the Essential Norwegian Explorer also includes visits to Trondheim
and Oslo, before returning to Bergen.
This is the ideal journey for
those who wish to gain an insight into the varied landscapes
and cities of Norway.

You will experience the highlights of the Hurtigruten, before
travelling on modern and comfortable Norwegian trains through
the mountains, lakes, valleys and incredible cities of the
Norwegian mainland.
The three distinctive cities we visit – medieval Trondheim,
the capital Oslo and, gateway to the fjords, Bergen are linked
by two of Europe’s most scenic railway journeys, and
our time in each allows us to see the very best that they
have to offer.

We arrive in Oslo later that afternoon, and transfer

Across
the 'roof of Norway'
to Bergen |
|
We return to Bergen
‘Across the Roof of Norway’ by train from
Oslo, with its dramatic and ever-changing scenery,
this is a major attraction for many visitors to Norway.
Leaving Oslo in the morning, we travel through forests
with sparkling lakes and thundering waterfalls and
through deep, narrow valleys – impassable but
for many tunnels. Closer to Bergen the scenery becomes
characteristic of the fjord region, with lush orchards
and snowy peaks.
We arrive in the late afternoon and transfer to our
hotel, where we enjoy some free time to relax and
explore before our flight back to the UK the following
day. |
