From Kiev to the Crimea
Discover the cities of the Ukraine abroad MS Viking Lavrinenkov
*** plus on a journey from Kiev to the Black Sea
Our voyage can truly be described as a journey through history.
Beginning in the city of Kiev, we then navigate the mighty
Dnieper River - the third longest river in Europe - as we
make our way to the delta of the river and enter the Black
Sea. Our ports of call include Odessa, founded by Catherine
the Great, the Crimean port of Sevastopol, closed to the west
until recent times, and the Crimean resort of Yalta.
The ancient city of Kiev is renowned for its architectural
heritage including the Pecherskaya, the oldest monastery in
the Ukraine.

In the Panorama Museum of Sevastopol the siege
of the city in the Crimean War comes vividly to life in the
painted murals which line the walls of this circular building.
One of the most famous features of Odessa is the Potemkin
Steps which rise to a height of almost 500 feet from the sea
to the upper town. Visit the promenade or the acoustically
perfect Opera House.
